Welcome to Phil's, a wiki devoted to comprehensively detailing every season of Murphy Brown. This wiki can be helpful to anyone, but it's primarily intended to be an aid to writers of Murphy Brown fanfic, so the style of this wiki may diverge from the norm to some degree, including but not limited to the relaying of information in past tense, regardless of whether the figure it describes is living or deceased.
Why is there not much info?
This blog is watching along with the Antenna TV reruns of the series, which means one episode per day. This has to be transcribed, numbered, and then added to various pages and cited. Seasons 1 and 11 are already transcribed, but 2-10 are completely undone to the best of my knowledge. It's a lot of work, and may take a year or so to transcribe 9 seasons of a show, each one containing about 22 episodes. So, feel free to help out!
How does citation work here?
Citation works in a different fashion here than on a normal wiki. Episodes are transcribed, numbered (Think of Shakespeare's plays, poetry with numbered lines, Bible verses, et cetera), and cited by directly copying the quote and adding it as a reference. Users can hover over the superscripted numbers next to names and phrases to see the information cited. If a piece of information is confirmed more than once on the show, the very first occurrence of the info is cited, unless further occurrences are more clear or concise than the original instance. If a piece of information is not written in a script yet, the superscripted number is struck with a line, so that users can at the least hover over it and find what episode the information is available in. It may seem cumbersome, but this is done for the ease of fanfic authors to see characters relaying the facts in their own words!
What are timelines?
Timelines are different worlds which are primarily referenced as timelines due to significant events having occurred differently in each respective world. Murphy Brown takes place in two timelines- the timeline where Corky and Miles were married and where Avery was born in 1992 (The Sherwood-Silverberg Timeline), and the timeline where the two never pursued a romantic relationship and Avery was born in 1990 (The English Timeline.) Seasons 1-4 and 11 of Murphy Brown take place in the English Timeline, whereas seasons 5-10 take place in the Sherwood-Silverberg timeline.
